The press conference was held after Congressman Ivey led a letter with 30 of his Congressional colleagues as co-signors, sharing their concern regarding Patel’s nomination.

Congressman Glenn Ivey issued the following statement regarding the plans for the Commanders stadium:
"Maryland should have the chance to compete to keep the Commanders here.
"I opposed this bill in the House, and I oppose it today, because federal taxpayers should not be required to subsidize an NFL stadium by offering a 99-year lease of the RFK campus for free. That's not fair to the taxpayers, and it’s not fair to Maryland because it undermines Maryland's chance to compete on a level playing field.

Recently, U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin and Congressman Glenn Ivey (all D-Md.) were in Prince George’s County to highlight $1,150,000 in direct federal investments they secured for youth services and environmental restoration projects in the community. The lawmakers fought for these investments in the federal funding bills passed and signed into law for Fiscal Year 2024.
