Congressional App Challenge
The Congressional App Challenge is an annual, nationwide event intended to engage students' creativity and encourage their participation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields. Open to MD-04 middle and high schoolers in groups of 1 to 4 to gain exposure to STEM & coding by identifying an issue or challenge, and then solving it by learning how to code an app to address that challenge for any platform, using any coding language. The submission deadline is Monday, October 26th and can include anything created after October 31st, 2025, including an app made for a class, an after-school club, a summer program, or other extra-curricular groups.

The winning group will have their app showcased on the U.S. House of Representatives and Congressional App Challenge websites and be invited to participate in the #HouseofCode in Washington, D.C. to present their winning app alongside winners from all over the country. In addition, winners receive a waiver of the Arts Act copyright registration fee, allowing them to formally copyright their work.
