WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen and Congressmen Steny H. Hoyer, Dutch Ruppersberger, John Sarbanes, Kweisi Mfume, Jamie Raskin, David Trone and Glenn Ivey (all D-Md.) today announced $8,790,108 in federal funding for the Maryland Energy Administration to modernize the state’s power grid and invest in clean energy.

Today, Congressman Glenn Ivey joined by UMD President Darryll J. Pines, Dean of the Engineering School, Samuel Graham, Jr., Chris Ryan of National Institute of Standards and Technology and PGCO Fire Chief Tiffany D. Green presented a Congressional Citation to the University of Maryland Autonomous Micro Aerial Vehicle Team.

Hoyer, Dutch Ruppersberger, John Sarbanes, Kweisi Mfume, Jamie Raskin, David Trone and Glenn Ivey (all D-Md.) today announced $6,514,533 in U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency funding to help strengthen Maryland’s cybersecurity infrastructure. The federal funding, awarded to the Maryland Department of Emergency Management, comes through the FY 2023 State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP) which helps state, local and territorial (STL) governments manage and reduce systemic cyber risk.

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen and Congressman John Sarbanes (both D-Md.) introduced their bipartisan, bicameral legislation to create a unified Chesapeake National Recreation Area (CNRA). The bill proposes to unite a series of voluntarily contributed park areas and iconic Bay properties under the operation of the National Park Service (NPS) in order to provide more federal resources for environmental conservation, celebrate the Chesapeake’s diverse cultural and economic history, foster sustainable and equitable access to the Bay, and spur economic growth in the watershed region.
