CONGRESSMAN GLENN IVEY PROVIDES STATEMENT FROM FINAL HEARING OF THE TASK FORCE ON THE ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION OF DONALD J. TRUMP

December 5, 2024

Today, Congressman Glenn Ivey (MD-04) joined his colleagues on the Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump for a final hearing entitled “Secret Service Security Failures and the Attempts to Assassinate President-Elect Donald J. Trump.”

The hearing addressed the security failures that resulted in assassination attempts on President-elect Donald J. Trump in Butler, PA on July 13, 2024, and West Palm Beach, FL on September 15, 2024, and featured witness testimony from U.S. Secret Service Acting Director Ronald. L. Rowe Jr.

“Today’s second and final hearing of the Task Force on the Attempted Assassination of Donald J. Trump showcased the serious, bipartisan efforts to gain knowledge and information on the tragic events of July 13th in Butler, Pennsylvania,” said Congressman Glenn Ivey.

“I thank Acting Director Rowe for his candor and willingness to take accountability for the failures of that day. While at times the discussion became passionate, I believe the Task Force remained focused on its mission to the benefit of our country and the people we represent.  The Task Force’s final report will reflect the culmination of 5 months of investigative work by professional, dedicated, and patriotic staff from both parties to better understand the shortcomings and failures which resulted in multiple attempts on President-elect Trump’s life.  I am honored to have served on this Task Force and believe we can continue to work together for a brighter and safer future for our Democracy.”
