The hearing, entitled, “Promoting Opportunity: The Need for Targeted Federal Business Programs to Address Ongoing Racial Discrimination” underscored how programs like the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program and the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), help remedy the impacts of racial discrimination in the federal contracting space, as well as the consequences of recent legal attacks against 8(a) and MBDA.

The federal funding, provided through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, will support Maryland’s efforts to identify and replace lead service lines and reduce exposure to lead from drinking water.

In a Thursday press release Ivey , who represents Maryland’s 4th Congressional District, said the person chosen for the special position will work with the military and veteran constituents to handle veterans-related casework and act as a facilitator between constituents and federal, state, and local agencies.
