Congressman Glenn Ivey Hosts Press Conference on the Nomination of Kash Patel as FBI Director

February 12, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, Congressman Glenn Ivey hosted a press conference at the U.S. House of Representative’s Press Gallery countering the nomination of Kash Patel as FBI Director. Congressman Ivey was joined by Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan (VA-04), Congressman Seth Magaziner (RI-02), and Congresswoman Kamlager-Dove (CA-37). The press conference was held after Congressman Ivey led a letter with 30 of his Congressional colleagues as co-signors, sharing their concern regarding Patel’s nomination.

Congressman Ivey issued the following statement at the press conference:

“In my view he [Kash Patel] is probably the most unqualified candidate for the FBI directorship I have ever seen. There are reasons and we are going to go through some of those today. And I know the Republicans on the Senate Judiciary are going to go ahead and confirm him today, but I thought it was important to try to speak truth to power and the letter is aimed at making sure we are getting that done and let them know that we think that he is not only bad for the FBI, but bad for public security and public safety, but also good for domestic cartels in Mexico and criminal enterprises operating in the United States….”
