Congressman Glenn Ivey Finalizes $11,681,279 For Local Projects in Government Funding Package

March 6, 2024

Washington DC – Today, Congressman Ivey voted to finalize $11,681,279 in Community Project Funding that he previously secured for Maryland’s 4th District in the 2024 spending bills. This funding, included in the first of the appropriations government funding packages, responds directly to some of the most pressing needs in Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties.

“I am incredibly pleased to have voted for $11,681,279 in Community Project Funding in this bill that I know will have a profound impact on Maryland’s 4th District,” Rep. Ivey said. “Working with our Senators, Ben Cardin, and Chris Van Hollen, we will be able to bring home these investments to grow our economy, making a real difference in the lives of so many in our community. I am proud to have fought for funding with my colleagues in the Maryland House Delegation, Reps. Hoyer, Ruppersberger, Sarbanes, Harris, Mfume, Raskin, and Trone that will make our community healthier, safer, and stronger. I thank Senators Cardin and Van Hollen and my fellow Representatives for their continued work,” the Congressman continued.

Rep. Ivey championed funding for 14 projects that will directly benefit Maryland’s 4th District residents. These include:

  • $850,000 for Black Hawk Drive Lane Replacement
  • $850,000 for Burtonsville Park and Ride Improvements
  • $725,000 for Digital Workforce Transformation by Black Data Processing Associates
  • $963,000 for Glenn L. Martin Wind Tunnel Electrical Modernization
  • $500,000 for Incentivizing Accessibility in Housing Rehabilitation and Development Projects
  • $300,000 for Laurel Boys and Girls Club Window Repair/Replacement Project
  • $963,000 for Rapid Innovation Accelerator (RIA) for Cybersecurity Research
  • $850,000 for Renovation of the Dam Ruins at Riverfront Park in Laurel, Maryland
  • $963,000 for Saturday Youth Justice Academy
  • $1,616,279 for Saving Jobs, Eliminating Solid Waste, and Expanding Green Opportunities
  • $275,000 for Violence Intervention Program
  • $726,000 for Violence Reduction Research Initiative (VRRI)
  • $1,600,000 for Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission for Utility Services Project
  • $500,000 for West Hyattsville Station, Street and Road Infrastructure Improvements

House Democrats were successful in removing harmful extreme House Republican policies from these bills that attempted to make abortion illegal everywhere, slash efforts to fight climate change, and threaten our national security. Instead, these final bipartisan 2024 funding bills will help keep our communities safe, fight inflation, and boost our economy. Taken together, the funding for Maryland’s 4th District and the funding increases for critical government programs will continue to grow our local economy and support our communities.

This legislation is expected to be signed into law by President Biden later this week. A detailed summary of the bill is available here.
